College graduate with background in business administration, real estate finance, economics, or finance preferred; or significant experience at the management level in a banking, mortgage banking, or credit union lending operations. Equivalent experience and formal training may substitute for degree.
Considerable first mortgage operations experience with specific knowledge of closing and post-closing processes and procedures required. Areas of competency include excellent knowledge of mortgage closing documents, mortgage banking regulations, and investor delivery guidelines. Must have excellent knowledge of residential first mortgage products including FHA and VA programs. Prior supervisory experience in first mortgage origination functions preferred; demonstrated ability to manage and coach individuals in a variety of positions with a wide range of knowledge and skills; demonstrated ability to motivate, train, and develop staff; and demonstrated effective leadership skills that include creating and maintaining a positive work environment both with their team as well as peers.
